Who we are
vSAS is a non-profit virtual airline community for flight simulation enthusiasts. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the real SAS (Scandinavian Airlines). This website exists purely for entertainment and educational purposes within the flight simulation community.
Data we collect on this website
Almost none. The public website has no user accounts, contact forms, or analytics that identify you. The only exception is the Liveries page: if you choose to sign in with vAMSYS there, we briefly receive pilot data from the vAMSYS Pilot API to check your eligibility. See the section below for details.
Cookies
This website does not set tracking or advertising cookies.
Third-party services
When you join vSAS, your pilot account is created and managed on vAMSYS, and our community runs on Discord. Both services process your data under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read. Links on this site may also take you to external sites such as VATSIM, flightsim.to, and YouTube, each with their own policies.
vAMSYS Pilot API data (Liveries page)
To download our community liveries, pilots must sign in with vAMSYS using OAuth 2.0 (Authorization Code + PKCE). We request the following scopes: identity:basic (your name and email), identity:networks (your VATSIM/IVAO/POSCON/APOC IDs), pilot:read (your pilot profile, rank, stats and badges), and flights:read (your bookings, PIREPs and logbook). We use this data for one purpose only: to verify that you meet the access threshold of at least 5 accepted flights or 10 logged hours at vSAS, after which you are granted access to the livery downloads. We do not store your pilot data in any database. The vAMSYS access token is used once at sign-in to read the values above and is then discarded. We set a short-lived signed cookie (lv_grant, about 30 days) that only records that you passed the eligibility check, it does not contain personal data. We do not share, sell, or use this data for analytics or marketing. You can revoke this client at any time from your vAMSYS account, which immediately blocks future sign-ins.
Your rights
If you want your data removed from our vAMSYS roster or our Discord server, contact a staff member on Discord and we will help you. You can revoke the vSAS Pilot API client directly from your vAMSYS account at any time, and ask staff to clear any cached eligibility grant. For data held by vAMSYS or Discord themselves, requests need to go through those services directly.
Changes to this policy
If we ever start collecting data on this website, this policy will be updated before that happens.
